How Long Payment Crediting Takes
You paid the loan on time, the money was debited from your card, but the MFO account still shows a debt. Does this mean the payment did not go through?
Not necessarily. Some time may pass between the moment the funds are debited from your account and the moment they are credited to the lender.
The crediting speed depends on how exactly you repay the loan. If you pay by card online, payment information is usually displayed instantly. If you pay through a bank branch or a self-service terminal, crediting may take 1–3 days.
If the payment is not credited immediately, do not panic — give the system some time to process it.
Main Reasons for Non-Crediting
If the money has been debited but the loan is not closed, there may be several reasons:
- Error in the payment details. Even one incorrect digit can cause the payment to be misdirected or “stuck.”
- Incorrect credit agreement number. Most MFOs use the agreement number to automatically determine whose payment should be credited. If this number is incorrect, the money may reach the lender but not be linked to the specific loan.
- The payment is still being processed. If you paid through a bank or terminal, crediting may take longer.
- Technical failure at the lender. Sometimes the payment has already arrived, but due to a technical error it is not displayed in your account.
Step-by-Step
Step 1. Keep the receipt
The National Bank of Ukraine requires lenders to record information about payments made by clients to repay debt, including the date and amount of the payment and the method of repayment (“clause 37 of Section VI of the Regulation approved by Resolution of the NBU Board No. 79 dated 09.07.2021”). But in case of disputes, you should have proof of payment — an electronic receipt or screenshot showing the date, amount, details, and transaction number.
Step 2. Contact the Lender’s Support Team
Provide the staff with your credit agreement number, the date, time and amount of payment, as well as the receipt or screenshot of the uncredited payment.
Step 3. If Necessary, Contact the Bank
If the lender does not see the payment, contact the bank through which you made it. Ask them to check the transaction status.
Step 4. Record the Date of Your Request
If the delay leads to a dispute about overdue payment, it is important to have proof of when exactly you informed the lender about the problem.
How to Avoid Late Payment Because of This
Do not leave payment until the last moment — especially if you use a bank transfer or terminal, where processing may require additional time.
After making the payment, be sure to keep the receipt. Also check your agreement: according to the requirements of Law of Ukraine No. 1734-VIII (Art. 12), the terms for fulfilling obligations under the loan, including payment deadlines, must be specified in the agreement itself.
If you made the payment within the period specified in the agreement, the funds were debited from your account, but the lender charged an overdue penalty — you have the right to demand a recalculation of the debt.
Final summary
When paying a loan, be sure to keep the receipt or a screenshot with the transaction details. If the money has been debited but the loan payment has not gone through, contact MFO support and provide proof of payment.
