It is not possible to obtain a loan completely without passport details, because the lender must identify the borrower — this is a legal requirement (Law No. 1734-VIII). At a minimum, you must provide passport details — series, number, and issuance information — as well as copies of the document.
However, you do not always need to upload photos or scans of your passport — digital services have made the process much simpler.
Today, many microfinance organizations (MFOs) in Ukraine use modern verification methods:
- Through the government service "Diia." Data is automatically retrieved from state registers, so there is no need to photograph or scan your passport.
- Through BankID. If you are a customer of a Ukrainian bank, you can complete identification through BankID. In this case, the bank confirms your identity without additional documents or uploads.
Therefore, passport details are always used to obtain a microloan, but physically presenting or uploading the document is not always necessary.
